Vintage Scouting literature is not only fun and attractive, it is also glimpses of a "present-past", writings from their present that became our past. It stands free of revisionism and the distortion of selective memory. Ironically we are the "past-future" they were writing for, the adults they equipped their youth to become. As such these words are more than facts and figures, they are a gift from them to us. We can't help but evaluate how well that gift was received.

As material designed to empower volunteers and youth members to be comfortable in the great outdoors and to achieve the goals of citizenship, fitness and character, Scouting literature broke important skills into a series of challenging but achievable steps. Exactly how this has been done has changed over the years as society and technology has evolved, yet it has also held fast to several core values that have stood the test of time. That is part of the allure of collecting Scouting Literature, experiencing the different and the famliar at once. Given that our time, resources--and frankly our luck--is limited, gathering a collection of must-haves is harder and harder to do. That is where this virtual museum comes in, bringing some of the experience to you on the 'Net. Begin your journey with the links above.
