THIRD EDITION (Cover A, 1954-1966)
Edition
Notes: Cover art by Don Ross. With Webelos’ emphasis on
Boy Scout skills, the fleur-de-lis looms symbolically just behind a
lion statue. 188 pages, 5 1/2” x 8”. Illustrations were mostly the
same two color (brown and black) linear cartoons that appeared in
the Second Edition.
Historical Notes: The Webelos
Rank had been around since 1945, but the program was granted more
prominence with the third edition. By mid-1955 the Webelos Den was
instituted, with its own Webelos Den patch. Quote:
A Cub Scout tries to feel friendly toward all
nations, but there may be some that you are especially interested
in. It may be because your parents or your grandparents or some of
the people living in your neighborhood came from these countries. It
may even be because you like the things that people do in these
favorite lands of yours. |
